Marani Hotel Overview

You know what surprised me about Marani Hotel? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy but somehow gets everything right. I mean, when you’re walking down Giorgi Brtskinvale Street – which honestly sounds intimidating but it’s actually this quiet residential stretch – you almost miss the entrance because it blends in so naturally with the neighborhood feel.

This three-star spot sits in what I’d call the real Batumi, away from the casino glitz and touristy waterfront chaos. The thing is, you’re still only about a 15-minute walk to the sea, but here you get to see how locals actually live. There’s this little bakery two blocks down that fills the whole street with bread smells every morning around 7 AM – honestly better than any hotel breakfast I’ve had. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing Instagram-worthy but everything works. The shower has proper water pressure (trust me, this matters in Georgia), and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up with a backache. What I really appreciated was the balcony in my room – small, but perfect for morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up.

The staff here actually seem to care, which you don’t always get at this price point. When I couldn’t figure out the local bus system, the front desk guy – I think his name was Giorgi – literally walked me to the bus stop and explained which one goes to the botanical garden. You can tell they’re used to guests who want to explore beyond the typical tourist spots. Parking was easy too, which is saying something in Batumi where finding a spot near the popular hotels can be a nightmare. The area gets pretty quiet at night, so if you’re someone who needs total silence to sleep, you’ll be happy. Just be aware that during summer the whole city gets packed, and even this tucked-away spot fills up. I stayed in September though, and it felt like having my own little corner of the city. For what you pay, especially considering that 8.5 rating from other travelers, it’s honestly hard to beat if you want authentic Batumi without the tourist markup.

Reviews of Marani Hotel

  • Good – Johan from Netherlands – August 27, 2025 (7/10)

It was very clean and spacious.

What could be improved: Breakfast is cheap but also limited.
Also I booked a room with balcony according to booking.com description but only de luxe rooms really have a balcony

  • Spacious Room – David from Ireland – July 21, 2025 (10/10)

Huge room with spacious balcony. Restaurant upstairs had live music. Friendly staff. Slightly removed from the main tourist areas so it's quiet.

What could be improved: Wifi a bit hit and miss.

  • Wonderful – Natalia from Switzerland – May 31, 2025 (9/10)

Very quiet, with the excellent restaurant on the top and a great view, and a wine tasting cellar.
    All is great!

  • Good place overall – Franky from Germany – May 25, 2024 (8/10)

Beautiful lobby… Fast WiFi…Clean and spacious room…Modern shower…Excellent wine and food restaurant on the 6th floor

What could be improved: Not enough electricity outlets in the room… (just one)… no reading lamp, just a ceiling light emanating this horribly cold white light… they should have a chat with their electrician

  • Very Good – Andrew from Belgium – October 17, 2023 (8/10)

Friendly staff, clean room, good price.

  • A cosy hotel with a lot of character – Saara from Estonia – September 24, 2023 (10/10)

The receptionist was very hospitable and caring, up to the point that they let me in at 3AM, and storing my luggage until the evening the next day. The room was spacious, the bed comfy, and there was hot water in the shower. I also liked how the rooms were divided between different floors like apartments.

What could be improved: Everything was nice!

  • Wonderful place just off the centre of Batumi – Scott from New Zealand – July 12, 2023 (10/10)

This is a great hotel in an excellent quiet location, but still within walking distance to many interesting places including the beaches and old town streets. Staff were very kind and friendly. I had a great meal at the restaurant too, which also has awesome views. Overall, Hotel Marani is excellent value for money and definitely recommended.

What could be improved: Everything was great.

  • Exceptional – Anna from Denmark – May 16, 2023 (10/10)

    Fabulous atrium.
