Hotel Royal Georgia Overview

Hotel Royal Georgia sits right on that busy Airport Highway stretch heading into Batumi, and honestly, when I first pulled up I wasn’t sure what to expect – the location feels a bit removed from all the beachfront action. But you know what? That turned out to be one of its best features. You get this four-star experience without the constant buzz of tourists stumbling back from the casino district at 3 AM.

The lobby actually surprised me – there’s this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. Dark wood, comfortable seating areas where you can actually work on your laptop without feeling like you’re in someone’s way. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing, which I mean, sounds basic but you’d be amazed how rare that is in some Georgian hotels. Check-in was smooth, they spoke decent English, and the guy at the front desk actually gave me useful tips about avoiding the traffic mess when the port gets busy (apparently Thursdays are brutal).

What really sold me on this place was the room quality – everything felt solid and well-maintained. The beds are properly comfortable, not just hotel-acceptable, and the bathrooms have good water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in this part of town. The air conditioning works without sounding like a jet engine, and there are enough outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the bedside lamp. Small details, but they add up when you’re staying more than a night or two. The highway location does mean you’ll hear some traffic, especially during morning rush hour, but it’s more of a gentle hum than anything disruptive – way better than being next to Batumi’s late-night party scene.

Here’s the thing about staying out here – you’re maybe a 10-minute ride from the old town and beaches, but you’re also right near some of the better local restaurants that tourists never find. There’s this Georgian place about two blocks down that locals actually eat at, and a decent grocery store if you want to grab snacks or water without paying hotel prices. The taxi situation is pretty straightforward too; drivers know the hotel and the fare to downtown is reasonable. Plus, if you’re flying out of Batumi, you’re literally 5 minutes from the airport, which saved me a ton of stress on my last morning. I’d definitely stay here again – it’s that sweet spot where you get reliable comfort and service without the premium you pay for beachfront views you might not even care about.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Batumi at least two months ahead for major events like jazz festivals and beach celebrations, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular seaside attractions.

Reviews of Hotel Royal Georgia

  • Just for one night not more – Jerome from France – August 18, 2025 (4/10)

    The bed was comfortable

What could be improved: The place was noisy.
The bathroom was stinking because of lack of air exhaust.
The toilets was to close from the shower. No separation between them.
The breakfast was not good and some eggs were spoilt. I don't recommend

  • Exceptional – Miqeladze from Georgia – February 17, 2025 (10/10)

This hotel is perfect in every way! The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive. The rooms are spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed, offering ultimate comfort. including a fantastic pool.

The breakfast is outstanding, with a wide variety of delicious options. The location is ideal—close to attractions yet peaceful. Everything exceeded expectations, and I can’t wait to return!

  • Fair – Alex from Israel – October 6, 2024 (5/10)

This is a less than average hotel on the airport road. I had to spend only one night there and it was ok. The personnel at the reception were nice and helpful. Explained everything I needed to know.
The room was of a decent size, the window was to the noisy road. The bathroom was sort of not fully built, with exposed electrical cables (isolated though). No physical separation between the toilet and the shower, not even a plastic curtain.
But, it did the job and my stay was ok, value for a money -> excellent.

  • Unhappy with the place – Yas from Morocco – July 11, 2024 (3/10)

I like the view from the balcony

What could be improved: the bed is not comfortable plus is not stable and some of the staff are not really nice especially some staff from the canten having really annoying behaviours.

To be honest I wouldn't go there again and I don't recommend it.

  • Good – Agnieszka from Poland – April 10, 2024 (7/10)

Close to the airport and local shop but far from the centre and the sea. Good working air conditioning. Good size the room and bathroom. Good local food for dinner and supper.

What could be improved: Staff not speaking English to a communicative degree, except for one person who tried to communicate in that language. This constituted a major impediment to communication. Offering the same breakfast again and again – for guests staying more than 2 days.

  • Very Good – Rebeka from Latvia – April 22, 2023 (8/10)

Dzīvoklīs bija mazs, taču bija viss nepieciešamais. Patika, ka bija balkons uz kura varēja pasēdēt un pavērot kalnus.

What could be improved: Bija divas tualetes, taču viena no tām nestrādāja. Kā arī bijām vīlušies, ka baseinā nebija ūdens 🙁

  • Хороший вариант для ночлега – Aleksei from Turkey – April 16, 2023 (9/10)

Очень вкусный завтрак, вежливый персонал. В комнате было тепло и уютно. Отлично оборудованный санузел (отдельное спасибо за бидэ)

  • Fair – Yulia from Georgia – March 17, 2023 (5/10)

breakfast was ok. Sound proofing could be better

What could be improved: Smokey smell in both rooms, which just didn’t go away. Bathroom needs referb definitely.

  • Pleasant – Farimah from Iran – September 18, 2022 (6/10)

    Cleaning

    What could be improved: Location

  • Fair – Olaf from Australia – September 11, 2022 (5/10)

    Friendly stuff

What could be improved: Sparse breakfast, trucks driving in front and location far from beach and city center
