Hotel Chao Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Chao on Gorgiladze Street, you immediately get the sense that this three-star property punches above its weight. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t — no marble lobbies or crystal chandeliers here — but there’s a clean, welcoming vibe that puts you at ease right away. The staff genuinely seems happy to see you, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re tired from traveling.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s what I love about this spot in Batumi — you’re right in the heart of everything without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist trap. Gorgiladze Street puts you within easy walking distance of the Boulevard and the beach, but you’re also close enough to the old town that you can duck into those little wine bars locals actually frequent. I mean, there’s a reason couples rate this location so highly — you can stroll to dinner, walk off your meal along the waterfront, and still be back to your room in minutes.

The Rooms

The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out without any unnecessary frills. The beds are actually comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss that can be), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t be dealing with any plumbing surprises. What I really appreciated was the attention to details like decent lighting and enough outlets where you actually need them. The windows let in plenty of natural light, and if you’re lucky enough to get a higher floor, you’ll catch glimpses of the Black Sea between the buildings.

Starting Your Day Right

The continental breakfast here is honestly better than it needs to be for a three-star hotel. They’ve got the usual suspects — fresh bread, local cheeses, eggs — but they also throw in some Georgian touches that remind you where you are. The vegetarian options are actually thoughtful, not just an afterthought, which is refreshing. You can grab your coffee and sit in their little breakfast area, planning your day while watching Batumi wake up outside the windows.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Hotel Chao isn’t going to wow you with premium amenities or over-the-top service, but that’s sort of the point. It’s the kind of place where everything just works — the location gets you where you want to go, the rooms give you a proper night’s sleep, and the staff treats you like a person rather than a room number. For couples especially, it hits that sweet spot where you’re comfortable enough to relax but still in the middle of everything Batumi has to offer. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need — a reliable base that lets the city itself be the star of your trip.

Reviews of Hotel Chao

  • Very Good – Tomasz from Poland – April 7, 2025 (8/10)

The staff very helpful and kind. The hotel isn't the newest, but the rooms were clean and were equipped in everything what we needed for the stay. It's located near the city center, just few steps from the Batumi Promenade.

  • Exceptional – Yusuf from Turkey – February 15, 2025 (10/10)

Bella was an amazing person, she was so kind and she has amazing hospitality.
    Location was also really good.

  • Good budget hotel – Melanie from United States – May 25, 2023 (8/10)

The staff was friendly and polite.
The breakfast was good . Cleaning was available daily.
There are markets and restaurants close to the property.

What could be improved: There was only one trash can in the room. It was in the bathroom.

  • comfortable option to relax and enjoy the city from a good location – Gabriel from Brazil – May 15, 2023 (9/10)

location, nice and polite staff members who are always ready to help, cleanliness, comfort of the bed, cosy room, beautiful restaurant with a small but nice balcony, and great breakfast with a good variety of food

What could be improved: maybe some facilities could be renewed/improved, such as television and fitness centre. also soaps and shampoos could be more abundant and of better quality

  • Wonderful – Nnosa from Grenada – April 24, 2023 (9/10)

The hotel is nice, clean and in very excellent location.
Bedroom is spacious and bed is comfy
    The breakfast was great.
Overall I enjoyed my stay, however there seemed to be a problem with the price on booking.com or so they say,, I booked for a certain amount on the website and on my checkout they asked me to pay double the price I reserved for saying that there is a problem on the website, I explained that I booked the hotel based on what's on the website and end up paying that amount. I sensed that they aren't happy with it but it is not my problem and they should fix it with booking.com

  • Good value for money – Siarhei from Belarus – April 16, 2023 (8/10)

Good value for money. Not far from the beach and old centre. Clean room and very comfortable bed.

What could be improved: Noisy street along the hotel. No coffee machine

  • Very Good – Natalia from Russia – March 30, 2023 (8/10)

Good location, friendly stuff, large room, good bed.

What could be improved: Normal breakfast, but it would be much better to buy a good coffe maker instead of instant one (it is more necessary at breakfast than chacha and wine, that were served). On photos there were better bathroom accessories (shampoo etc) that were in fact given.

  • Very Good – Simon from Georgia – March 6, 2023 (8/10)

you can arrange a late check out at reception for a small fee

  • Very Good – Ryhor from Belarus – February 2, 2023 (8/10)

Location is great, park and old town and shops are close by. Check-in was fast and seamless. Breakfast included and menu changes every day, so one will not get tired of the same food. You can also enjoy a glass of Georgian wine for breakfast. My room had all the necessary facilities: AC, fridge, kettle

What could be improved: Bathroom was worn-out a bit, especially the rusty towel dryer. The sink tap was not properly fixed and moved, which made it a bit annoying to open it and close.
