Aparthotel Old City Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Aparthotel Old City on Tavdadebuli Street – I mean, it’s this quiet residential stretch that most tourists probably walk right past without noticing. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are hiding in plain sight. This three-star place sits right in the heart of Batumi’s old quarter, and while it might not have the flashy lobby of those big resort hotels down by the beach, it’s got something way better: character and that lived-in feel that makes you actually want to stay.

The aparthotel setup is perfect if you’re planning to stick around for more than just a quick weekend – each unit comes with a proper kitchenette, which saved me a fortune on restaurant bills (though let’s be real, Georgian food is so good it’s hard to resist eating out). The rooms are clean and spacious enough that I didn’t feel like I was living in a shoebox, and the staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure everything worked properly. I had a minor issue with the shower pressure on my first night, and they sorted it out by morning without me having to chase anyone down or fill out forms. The building itself has this Soviet-era bones thing going on, but they’ve updated it thoughtfully – new windows that actually keep the street noise out, decent Wi-Fi that didn’t cut out every ten minutes, and air conditioning that worked when Batumi hit those sticky summer days.

What really sold me on this place, though, was the location. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Batumi Boulevard and the beach, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups and street vendors. The old Turkish quarter is right at your doorstep – I spent hours just wandering those narrow cobblestone streets, discovering tiny cafes and family-run shops that definitely aren’t in any guidebooks. There’s this fantastic khachapuri place about two blocks away that the hotel owner told me about, and I swear I went there at least four times during my week-long stay. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (the streets are pretty narrow), but there’s usually something available within a block or two if you don’t mind walking a little. The whole neighborhood has this authentic, lived-in vibe that you just can’t get when you’re staying in the tourist bubble down by the port. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually feel like you’re experiencing real Batumi life, not just the sanitized version they show you in the brochures.

Early hotels booking in Batumi requires advance planning during peak summer seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary beaches, modern casinos, and Georgian cultural attractions.
