What really sold me on this place, though, is how it sits in a genuinely residential neighborhood where you’ll hear Georgian conversations drifting up from the courtyard in the mornings, mixed with the occasional sound of someone’s grandmother hanging laundry. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the main tourist strip along the boulevard, but that distance actually works in your favor – you get the authentic Batumi experience without the constant hustle of street vendors and tour groups outside your window. The building itself is solid Soviet-era construction, so the walls are thick and you won’t hear every footstep from upstairs. There’s a small grocery store basically across the street where the owner started recognizing me by day three, and the marshrutka stop is close enough that getting around the city becomes pretty straightforward once you figure out the route numbers. I’ll be honest, the building’s entrance could use some sprucing up, and don’t expect luxury finishes, but for what you pay, you’re getting authentic local living with all the practical stuff handled well.
