Old Garden Hotel Batumi Overview
You know what struck me first about the Old Garden Hotel Batumi? It’s this beautifully restored building on Zubalashvili Street that somehow manages to feel both elegant and lived-in at the same time. I mean, when you’re walking up from the Boulevard area – and honestly, you’re only about a 10-minute stroll from all the beachfront action – you almost miss it because it sits so naturally among the neighborhood’s mix of old Georgian architecture and newer developments. The entrance has this understated charm that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel,” which I actually loved.
Inside, this four-star place has character in spades. The lobby’s got these gorgeous high ceilings and original details they’ve clearly put effort into preserving, but it’s not stuffy or museum-like. The staff genuinely seemed to know Batumi inside and out – our front desk guy gave us walking directions to this amazing khinkali spot that wasn’t in any guidebook, and he was spot-on about timing our visit to the cable car (apparently Tuesday mornings are dead quiet up there). The rooms are what I’d call “properly comfortable” – not flashy, but everything works perfectly, the beds are actually firm enough, and the bathrooms have that satisfying water pressure you hope for but don’t always get. Our room overlooked this quiet courtyard that lived up to the hotel’s name, and honestly, after dealing with the bustling energy of Batumi’s main streets all day, coming back to that peaceful view was perfect.
What really sold me on this place was how it sits in the city. You’re close enough to walk to Europe Square in about 15 minutes – I timed it – but far enough from the casino crowds that you can actually sleep at night. The neighborhood has this authentic feel where you’ll see locals doing their daily shopping, and there’s a small market just around the corner where we grabbed amazing Georgian bread and cheese for impromptu balcony breakfasts. The hotel’s restaurant serves solid Georgian classics, though I’ll be honest, we ended up eating out most nights because there’s just so much good food within walking distance. Parking was surprisingly easy (there’s a small lot behind the building), which matters if you’re planning day trips along the coast. With an 8.2 rating, this place delivers exactly what it promises – it’s not trying to be the fanciest spot in town, but it nails that sweet spot of comfort, location, and genuine Georgian hospitality that makes you want to extend your stay.

Modern Style hotel. Full facilities. Inside old town. Worth money.
What could be improved: Environment around hotel. It is not clean like before Covid. Many shops closed down and some artists writing something with spray on wall / glass. Ugly.Good – Saltanat from Kazakhstan – February 19, 2023 (7/10)
Friendly personnel, nice location, view from the balcony.
What could be improved: There was no water in the toilet to flush it in the morning😳Very Good – Alexandra from Ukraine – February 10, 2023 (8/10)
location is good, the reception is 24/7, very helpful. the rooms are well-heated, have air-conditioning. bathrooms were clean and pleasant. there is a desk that is comfortable for laptop working/writing.
What could be improved: we lived in two different rooms, one was on the 1st floor and balcony was looking out to a square with lots of small shops. it can get kind of noisy, and you have a feeling that people might easily see you from the street (we stayed during winter, so never opened balcony door & kept curtains closed). the second one on the 3rd floor had 1 window that was facing a wall of another building really close.Elegant hotel in Batumi – Happykumarpl from India – October 12, 2022 (9/10)
