I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Old Boulevard Guest House on Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s tucked away just off the main drag in Batumi, and from the outside it looks like one of those places that could either be a hidden gem or… well, not. Turns out it’s definitely the former.

This three-star spot has that lived-in charm that you can’t fake – the kind of place where the owner actually remembers your name by day two. The rooms aren’t huge (I mean, this is Batumi, not some sprawling resort), but they’re thoughtfully put together with these nice little touches like proper reading lights and decent Wi-Fi that actually works when you need to upload photos. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, which honestly matters more than marble bathrooms when you’re exploring the city all day. Speaking of exploring, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the beach and maybe ten from the old town area where all the good restaurants are hiding. I spent most evenings wandering over to the Boulevard – not the street the hotel’s on, but the actual seaside Boulevard where locals go to people-watch and grab khachapuri from the vendors.

What really sold me on this place though was the breakfast situation. It’s not some massive buffet (thank god), but rather this proper Georgian spread that changes daily. The woman who runs it – I think she’s the owner’s sister or something – makes this incredible coffee that puts the tourist trap cafes to shame. You know what’s funny? I ended up chatting with other guests every morning, which never happens at those big chain places. There was this couple from Germany who’d been coming back for three years straight, and honestly, after staying there I get why. The whole building has this relaxed energy where you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than just passing through. Sure, the street can get a bit lively on weekend nights – you’re in the heart of the city after all – but it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you up, more like the sound of a city that’s actually alive. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentically Batumi without the tourist markup, this is exactly where you want to be.

  What could be improved: Couldn't enter the apartment for a long time and the staff weren't helping. The master bedroom is a small box built into the overall apartment.

  It was really fun there, the hosts treated us with great respect, and we were supposed to get a small room and in the end we got a larger room without additional charge, the place is clean and comfortable, and close to the city center and the walk to the sea is very short, a highly recommended place

  This small hotel has the perfect location, just minutes away from Europe Square and the beach. Our room was big and spotless, very comfortable beds. The owners speak good English and are really welcoming and helpful. I definitely recommend this place.
