I’ll be honest, when I first walked into New Wave Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior – it’s tucked away on Zhiuli Shartava street, which isn’t exactly the main tourist drag. But you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its best features. This four-star spot gives you that sweet balance of being close enough to Batumi‘s action without dealing with the constant street noise and crowds that come with staying right on Rustaveli Avenue or near the waterfront promenade.

The lobby has this cool contemporary vibe that feels more like a boutique hotel than your typical chain property. What really caught my attention was how the staff genuinely seemed to know the area – when I asked about getting to the Botanical Garden, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward a taxi, he actually explained the marshrutka route and mentioned that mornings are way less crowded if you’re planning to walk the trails. The rooms are clean and modern, though I mean, don’t expect massive spaces – it’s Georgia, not Texas. But honestly, the beds are comfortable and the AC works properly, which is crucial during those humid Batumi summers. The bathroom setup is pretty smart too, with decent water pressure and one of those rainfall showerheads that actually feels like rainfall instead of a sad drizzle.

Here’s what I really appreciated – the hotel sits in this quiet residential pocket, so you’ll sleep well, but you’re still only about a 10-minute walk to Europe Square and maybe 15 minutes to the beach if you don’t mind a little stroll. The neighborhood has a few local cafes where you can grab khachapuri that’s way better (and cheaper) than what you’ll find in the tourist zones. There’s also a small grocery store practically next door, which came in handy for grabbing water and snacks. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle on the street, but the hotel staff helped us figure out a safe spot nearby. One small thing that bugged me was that the WiFi got a bit spotty on the upper floors during busy evening hours, but it wasn’t terrible. Look, with an 8.4 rating, this place is clearly doing something right – it’s that kind of hotel where you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals would actually recommend to their visiting friends rather than just another tourist trap.

  Great location in walking distance to a nice beach with plenty of services, reataurants and shops, large rooms with splendid view, modern well equipped rooms.

  The hotel is located in a new, modern area and not far from the beach. The room was clean and the stuff were helpful,they surprised us with a sweet bed Decoration since we went there for our honeymoon.My husband & I enjoyed our stay.

  During our intense trip throughout Georgia we chose the New Wave hotel to spend 2 night and it was a very pleasant stay. The staff was friendly and professional. Our room made a good impression – it was spacious and clean. I especially enjoyed the bed and its comfortable matress – I had a great sleep on it.
  In case you travel by car it is good to know that the hotel has a parking garage which is a must in a city as crowded as Batumi.
  The hotel provides an open buffet breakfast – it was tasty, but the food could have been more diverse (I would appreciate more kinds of meat to choose from, some local cuisine and fruits).
  
  What could be improved: The hotel has a central steering AC system – you are unable to turn it on by yourself, you need to contact the reception (which we didn’t know about and thought it was broken). Other than that – everything was OK.
