I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Lazeti Inn • ლაზეთი ინნ in Sarpi – it’s one of those spots you might drive right past if you’re not paying attention. But honestly? That turned out to be part of its charm. This three-star place sits right near the Turkish border, and I mean really close – you can literally walk to the crossing in about five minutes, which is pretty wild when you think about it.

The thing about staying in Sarpi is that you’re technically still in Batumi, but it feels like you’re in this quiet little pocket that most tourists never discover. The inn itself has this unpretentious, family-run vibe that I actually loved. The rooms are simple but clean, and here’s what I really appreciated – the owners genuinely seem to care about making sure you’re comfortable. The guy at reception (I think he was the owner’s son) spent like twenty minutes drawing me a little map of local spots and explaining which marshrutkas to take into central Batumi. You know what? That kind of personal touch is getting harder to find these days.

What really struck me was how peaceful it gets here in the evenings. During the day, sure, there’s some traffic from people crossing the border, but once the sun starts setting over the Black Sea – and you can see it perfectly from some of the upper floor rooms – everything just mellows out. I’d sit on the little balcony with a beer from the corner shop and watch all these different license plates go by. Turkish cars heading home, Georgian families returning from day trips, the occasional adventurous backpacker like myself. It’s like having a front-row seat to this constant cultural exchange that’s been happening here for centuries. The breakfast is nothing fancy, but they make these amazing khachapuri that are honestly better than what I had at some of the pricier places in Batumi proper. Plus, if you’re planning to explore the Turkish side – and you should, even if it’s just for a few hours – staying here means you can walk over without dealing with taxis or timing public transport. The beach isn’t the prettiest stretch along this coast, I’ll give you that, but it’s literally right there when you want to cool off, and it’s never crowded. Sometimes you’ll have whole sections to yourself.

  Очень понравилось, что внутри чисто, уютно и есть всё необходимое для жизни. Но главное его преимущество — это, конечно, виды и пространство вокруг! Небольшая частная территория и две террасы позволили нам с максимальным комфортом проводить время на свежем воздухе. Вечера с барбекю под вид на море и горы стали абсолютным хитом нашего отдыха.

  Absolutely amazing views. Really clean and cozy cottage. It really was a perfect vacation. The beach was 15 min away by car but we chose to walk, which took about an hour (very nice hike back up).
  
  What could be improved: I recommend bringing water with you. When it rains, the tap water isn’t drinkable. The host was wonderful and brought us 3L bottles but still, bring your own just in case.
  Also, we chose to bring groceries to cook for ourselves and that was a good decision. There are couple of restaurants down at the center, but it’s more convenient to cook at home.

  Lazeti Inn is great place for stay in Kvariati if you are travelling by car. It is perfect for family or a group of friends. The house has everything that is needed for good stay. It is very clean and warm. It is located in the great place with awesome Black Sea and mountains views. Also I would like to express my gratitude to Salome, the owner of Lazeti Inn, for the warm welcome.
