During my stay, the front desk guy (wish I remembered his name) spent ten minutes drawing me a map to the local market and warning me about which marshrutkas to avoid during rush hour. That’s the kind of local knowledge you don’t get everywhere.

The rooms are what you’d expect from ibis Styles – clean, functional, with those bold accent walls – but there’s something to be said for consistency when you’re dealing with Batumi’s unpredictable weather. I stayed during one of those surprise autumn storms, and honestly, coming back to a reliably comfortable room after getting soaked exploring the old town was exactly what I needed. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and the water pressure is actually decent, which isn’t always a given in this part of the world. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night – you’re close enough to walk to the main action, but the street is residential enough that you’re not dealing with late-night party noise from the casino crowd. The breakfast spread is solid too, mixing international options with some Georgian touches. They do this thing with khachapuri that’s not quite authentic but somehow works perfectly with your morning coffee. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to explore beyond the typical tourist bubble but still have a reliable home base.

  What could be improved: The fact that we had to fill drinking water bottles from the water dispenser that was at the end of the corridor whenever we wanted water!
  (for environmental purposes). I have stayed in hotels that didn’t provide plastic water bottles, but filled and sealed glass bottles were provided everyday.
  The location of the hotel was a bit far from the boulevard (I saw that in Google maps earlier), what made it worst was the traffic.
  
  Room was very small, it looked congested. Space between the bed and the wall that had the TV was so narrow.
