I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to hotel Vaxx on Melikishvili Street. The neighborhood in Batumi is sort of tucked away from the main tourist drag, which actually turned out to be one of its biggest advantages. You know how some places just feel right the moment you walk in? This four-star spot has that vibe, even though the entrance is pretty understated compared to those flashy beachfront hotels everyone talks about.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth – no weird delays or that awkward hovering while they figure out your reservation. The rooms are well, they’re not going to blow your mind with cutting-edge design, but everything works properly and there’s this attention to detail that you don’t always find. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than marble countertops when you’re dealing with Batumi’s humidity. I mean, the whole place just feels like someone thought through what travelers actually need rather than what looks good in photos.

The location really grew on me during my stay. Melikishvili Street puts you close enough to walk to the old town and the waterfront, but you’re not dealing with the constant noise and crowds that come with staying right on the boulevard. There’s this little bakery about two blocks down that locals actually go to – not tourist prices, just really good khachapuri in the morning. The hotel sits at number 111, so it’s easy to find when you’re coming back late from dinner or exploring the city. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free too, which anyone who’s driven in Batumi will appreciate. I noticed the 8.9 rating it has online, and honestly, that tracks – it’s the kind of place where small things are done well consistently. You’re not getting resort-level amenities, but you’re getting a solid base for exploring the city without paying resort prices. The whole experience just felt more authentic than some of the bigger international chains, if that makes sense.

  A very clean hotel, quiet, nearby is a grocery store, there is a kitchen on the top floor where you can make breakfast and coffee (you have to buy ingredients, the hotel does not serve the breakfast).
  The city center and beaches are 15-20 minutes away by easy walk, or 5 minutes by taxi (not expensive in Batumi, but the use of Bolt is recommended). Great value for money.

  Rather nice location, some places to eat around, ~30 minutes walk to the city center and Black sea. The beds were comfortable, Wi-Fi was fine, the owner (Georgii) is very friendly and helpful. There were no problems to find a parking space despite the hotel has no private parking. The payment is accepted in cash (different currencies) or by card.
  
  What could be improved: Not a complaint, but the shower zone could be delimited from the rest of the bathroom, everything was in water while showering, but it's the consequence of the room size.
