Hotel Cattaleya Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Cattaleya? I was expecting another generic three-star place, but this little gem on Giorgi Mazniashvili Street actually has some real character to it. The building itself sits in this quieter part of Batumi where you’re close enough to hear the Black Sea but far enough from the main casino strip that you can actually sleep at night – which, honestly, is harder to find than you’d think in this city.

The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple. Nothing fancy, but whoever designed them actually understood what travelers need. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure – you’d be amazed how often that’s an issue in Georgian hotels. What I really appreciated was the little balcony in my room; it faced the street, sure, but Mazniashvili isn’t a busy thoroughfare, so mornings were actually peaceful with my coffee. The staff genuinely seemed to care about getting things right, too. When I had trouble with the WiFi on my second day, the front desk guy – I think his name was Giorgi – didn’t just reset it and walk away. He actually came up to make sure everything was working properly.

Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk from the Boulevard and the beach, which is perfect because you avoid the tourist chaos but you’re not stuck taking taxis everywhere. There’s this great little khachapuri place just two blocks down that the hotel receptionist recommended – definitely not somewhere I would’ve found on my own. And if you’re planning to explore beyond Batumi, the marshrutka station is walkable, though I’d recommend asking at the front desk for directions because the streets in that area can be a bit confusing. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel that I really liked; you see actual Batumi residents going about their daily lives, not just other tourists. Parking can be tight on the street, but there’s usually something within a block or two. Overall, Hotel Cattaleya feels like staying somewhere real rather than in some sanitized tourist bubble – and for the price point, that 8.2 rating makes total sense.

To book a hotel in Batumi during major cultural festivals, travelers need early planning as this vibrant Georgian resort draws visitors eager to experience its subtropical climate and modern seaside architecture.

  • Very Good – Veronika from Ukraine – August 29, 2025 (8/10)

  • The front desk always talking very loud – Beryl from Malaysia – August 19, 2025 (5/10)

    Location

What could be improved: They don’t accept credit card but didn’t inform in advance

  • Wonderful – Natalia from Lithuania – July 24, 2025 (9/10)

Nice e, spacious room, comfortable mattress and pillows.. Toiletries provided 24 h reception.Responsive and welcoming staff.
Very good location, everything is in the walking distance.
Evening was a little bit noisy, but as it was central located, it's absolutely acceptable.

What could be improved: I would suggest a mini fridge in the room, or a bottle of water:)
    But, anyway, everything was perfect:))

  • Wonderful – Jiří from Czech Republic – July 3, 2025 (9/10)

Dobrá poloha v centru, čisté, klidné místo, v blízkosti obchodů i hlavních atrakcí.

What could be improved: Měli jsme problém ubytování najít.

  • Deceiving rating and conditions – Roxana from Belgium – June 13, 2025 (5/10)

The hotel was in the middle if the city.

What could be improved: The hotel didn’t respond to my booking message, but the staff at the reception was very kind and helpful! I arrived late and the noise continued till very late, poor isolation I believe. The room looked decent cleaned, but the most disturbing part was the smell, mold like and the cherry on top were the cockroaches! I saw one in the bathroom and one near the door!

  • Cheap and comfy – Julia from Georgia – June 3, 2025 (7/10)

The location is amazing, right in the heart of the city. The personnel is very nice and friendly. Our room was big enough for 4 guests. We were provided fresh towels, shampoos, soap, etc. Great value for the money.

What could be improved: Since it's located in the center, you'll hear people talk and drink at the bars across the street.
