Hotel Argo Overview

You know what really struck me about Hotel Argo when I first walked in? It’s got this confident, understated vibe that you don’t always find in Batumi’s hotel scene. The lobby has these clean lines and warm lighting that immediately made me think “okay, this is a four-star place that actually gets it.” I mean, some hotels in this category try way too hard with flashy decor, but Argo keeps things sophisticated without being stuffy.

The location on Gorgiladze Street is honestly perfect if you want to be close to the action but not drowning in it. You’re maybe a ten-minute walk from the Boulevard and all the waterfront craziness, but the street itself is quiet enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open (which I always prefer when I can get away with it). What I really appreciated was how easy it was to find decent coffee and khachapuri within a couple blocks – there’s this little bakery that locals hit up in the mornings, and honestly, that’s always a good sign when you’re trying to get a feel for a neighborhood.

The rooms themselves are well thought out. I stayed in one of their standard doubles and was pleasantly surprised by how much space there was – not just for the bed, but actual walking around room, which you can’t take for granted in Batumi. The bathroom had this rainfall shower that actually had decent water pressure (you’d be amazed how often that’s an issue), and there were enough outlets placed sensibly around the room that I didn’t have to unplug the bedside lamp to charge my phone. Small details, but they add up. The air conditioning worked quietly, which was crucial during my July visit when Batumi gets pretty sticky. I will say the Wi-Fi was solid throughout the building, even down in the lobby area where I’d sometimes work in the evenings.

What really sets Hotel Argo apart though is the staff – they seem to actually know the city beyond just the obvious tourist spots. When I asked about where to find good Georgian wine that wasn’t marked up for tourists, the front desk guy gave me directions to this wine shop that locals actually use, complete with which bottles to look for. That kind of local insight is gold, honestly. The breakfast was another pleasant surprise – yeah, it’s a buffet setup, but they had some Georgian specialties mixed in with the international stuff, and everything felt fresh rather than like it had been sitting under heat lamps for hours. Check-in was smooth, check-out was even smoother, and parking was available right there (which, if you’re driving in Batumi, you know that’s not always a given). It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere that knows what it’s doing, without any unnecessary fuss.

Reviews of Hotel Argo

  • Exceptional – Anonymous from Georgia – September 4, 2025 (10/10)

Great location, staff and breakfast✅ rooms are also good.

What could be improved: Room hasn’t balcony

  • Wonderful – Anonymous from Latvia – September 3, 2025 (9/10)

Great location. The sea, cafes, shops – everything is a few minutes walk away. The hotel staff is very responsive and helpful. On the day of arrival we had some minor problems, which were quickly resolved. The breakfast buffet is quite varied, everything is fresh and tasty. Everything in the room worked perfectly – no problems with the toilet, shower or sewage. The room had very good Wi-Fi with excellent internet speed.

What could be improved: The only downside is that the hotel is located on one of the central streets, and if the windows are on the street side, it is quite noisy in the evenings.

  • For one night maybe it's ok. – Zsanett from Hungary – August 24, 2025 (3/10)

3* only because of the kind receptionist in the morning (not the one we checked-in at) and the surprisingly good breakfast.

What could be improved: The bathroom was horrible, during the shower the water flooded the floor. The cable of the hairdryer was broken, it's actually life-threatening. When we arrived, the receptionist was not helpful at all, he didn't tell us anything, he was rather rude. Because of the location, the room is very loud.

  • Very Good – Nina from Belarus – August 24, 2025 (8/10)

Хорошие завтраки, отличное месторасположение, приветливый персонал

What could be improved: Семейный номер мал по размеру, несовременный интерьер

  • Disappointing – Ruby from Israel – August 21, 2025 (4/10)

Late checkout was approved for me.

What could be improved: The room had No view, although it was advertised as with view. Breakfast was no good. The stay was overpriced.

  • Pleasant – Nabil from Lebanon – August 19, 2025 (6/10)

The location was optimal. The staff at the reception was very welcoming especially the lady. Always smiling and ready to help. The rooms were decent though they need some minimal maintenance. The breakfast was generous but lacks local taste.

What could be improved: The toilet flush button needs maintenance.

  • Exceptional – Igor from Israel – August 9, 2025 (10/10)

  • Quite nice for its price – Adayev from Kazakhstan – July 3, 2025 (8/10)

I personally really liked the breakfast, the cozy room, the staff who are always welcoming and friendly.

What could be improved: Our room 505 had rather poor soundproofing of the windows, which is why we could constantly hear sounds from the streets

  • Poor – Al-dalbhi from Saudi Arabia – September 17, 2022 (3/10)

    distinguished by its location only

What could be improved: The hotel is old and dreary
