Hilltop Batumi Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Hilltop Batumi? The name actually undersells it. I mean, yeah, it’s literally on a hill – Shervashidze Ascent to be exact – but when you’re standing on that terrace looking out over the Black Sea, “hilltop” feels like calling the Grand Canyon a ditch. This four-star place has honestly become my go-to recommendation for anyone heading to Batumi who wants to feel like they’ve discovered something special without paying resort prices.
The location is pure genius, actually. You’re tucked away from the casino chaos down on the boulevard – and trust me, that gets old fast if you’re trying to sleep – but you’re still close enough to walk down to the beach or those weird futuristic buildings they’ve been putting up everywhere. The climb back up isn’t terrible, though I’ll admit after a long day exploring the Old Town and maybe one too many glasses of Georgian wine, that ascent feels a bit more… ascent-y. But here’s the thing nobody tells you: the hotel runs a little shuttle service, and the front desk staff (who speak surprisingly good English, by the way) will call you a taxi that actually knows where you are. Half the drivers in Batumi get confused by the winding streets up here.
What really sold me on this place was the breakfast situation – they do this spread with proper khachapuri alongside more standard European stuff, and you can eat it outside when the weather’s decent. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing revolutionary but definitely well-maintained with those little touches that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. Good water pressure, reliable WiFi, and – this might sound silly – but the beds are actually long enough for tall people. You’d be surprised how rare that is in this part of the world. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, too. When the air conditioning in my room started making weird noises around midnight, they moved me to a better room the next morning without any fuss and threw in late checkout as an apology. That 9.5 rating you see online? Yeah, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it’s doing everything really well, and honestly, that matters more when you’re jet-lagged and just want things to work properly.

We want to recommend the place and the wonderful couple from Moka and Nino who run it, who hosted us in a special and magical cabin close to Batumi, when you get there you have the feeling of a green and pastoral village with an urban view of the city, you get everything from everything there. The atmosphere is amazing and the service was excellent. They are warm, pleasant and hospitable people, they helped us with every question and request and even offered to drive us back to the airport at no additional cost, which is incomprehensible, we feel that everything is done from the heart that you will enjoy yourself and that you will leave with a good experience
