Family Hotel Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Family Hotel on Tchaikovsky Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard building in this part of Batumi. But you know what? Sometimes the most unassuming places surprise you the most. This three-star spot turned out to be exactly what I needed during my week exploring Georgia’s coastal gem.

The thing that struck me right away was how the staff actually seemed to care about what you were up to. I mean, the woman at reception (I think her name was Nino) spent like ten minutes sketching out a little map showing me which marshrutkas to take to get to the botanical garden, and which beach spots the locals hit up versus where all the tourists crowd. You don’t get that kind of personal touch at the big chain places down by the boulevard. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but the AC actually works (crucial during those humid Batumi summers), and I loved that my window faced the street so I could watch the neighborhood come alive in the mornings. There’s something charming about hearing the fruit vendors calling out in Georgian while you’re having your coffee.

Location-wise, Tchaikovsky Street puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to the old town and the main attractions, but you’re not dealing with the constant noise and crowds of the waterfront hotels. I actually preferred it this way – you get a better sense of how real Batumi works. There’s a little bakery two blocks down that makes these incredible khachapuri (the locals line up there every morning around 8), and you’re maybe a 15-minute stroll to Piazza Square. The hotel doesn’t have parking, but honestly, you don’t need a car in this city anyway. What really sold me on this place was the genuine family atmosphere – it really lives up to its name. I saw the same guests chatting with each other in the small lobby area, sharing tips about day trips to Sarpi or where to find the best wine bars. The breakfast is simple but solid, and they’ll pack you something to go if you’re catching an early bus to Tbilisi. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the WiFi can be spotty on the upper floors, but sometimes you just want a place that feels like someone actually cares about your experience rather than just processing you through.

Reviews of Family Hotel

  • Exceptional – Migdiseli from Georgia – July 24, 2025 (10/10)

    It's excellent for its price.

  • Wonderful – Mr from Israel – July 1, 2025 (9/10)

    Very nice hotel. Quite location.
About 15 min walk from the beach.
Good restaurants and coffee places are in a distance of short walk 5-10 minutes.

What could be improved: No view of the sea

  • Wonderful – Marser from Netherlands – June 2, 2025 (9/10)

    It was a nice stay!

The room is of a decent size, has a little fridge and a boiler. But you do not need those since there is a big fully equipped kitchen! There is also a laundry room.
    Beds were comfortable for me.

The only drawback is lack of a lift. But it is fine. Just make sure to ask for a lower floor if you need it.

You can always reach out to the owner, she is almost always downstairs. Do not hesitate to ask for recommendations where you can eat and what to visit.

Location is okay. If you do not like walking, taxis are so cheap! You can reach the sea promenade in couple of minutes for very little money. Or walk for 25 minutes.

    Recommend!

It was big and enough space for me and my friend. We had big good beds and nice bathroom with always hot water . Also we had balcony. And we could use washing machine every day!!

Hotel is very clean and comfortable and neighbourhood is good. It’s close to city centre and we easily walk to all popular destinations as a Ali Nino, Black Sea, Dolphin Show , Piazza Street and etc.
    Many thanks to owners.

  • Hotel in a great location run by a very kind family – Nosek from Czech Republic – August 18, 2023 (10/10)

We started our journey in Batumi and stayed at Nana’s Family hotel for 2 nights. The owner’s daughter Tea (read Thea), speaks perfect english and was able to give us great tips about our stay in Batumi which we followed and really enjoyed. The hotel is clean and has a common kitchen with all kitchen supplies you’ll need. Each room also has an additional fridge and A/C, internet works great. Simply put, this stay was a great value for money! We are planning to stay there again on our last night before leaving Georgia. Thank you for hosting us Nana and Tea! 😊
