Colosseum Marina Hotel Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Colosseum Marina Hotel on Sherif Khimshiashvili Street, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. But you know what they say about judging books by their covers, because this five-star place absolutely blew me away once I stepped inside. The location is actually perfect if you’re trying to balance being close to the action without dealing with the chaos of central Batumi‘s tourist crowds. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the marina (hence the name, obviously), and I mean a proper walk, not that “five minutes by car” nonsense some places try to pull.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually care about the details – my room was ready early without me even asking, and they remembered my name throughout the stay, which honestly doesn’t happen that often these days. The rooms themselves are spacious in that way that makes you wonder why more hotels don’t get it right – there’s actually space to open your suitcase without doing some weird furniture tetris game. The sea views from the upper floors are genuinely spectacular, especially during sunset when the whole coastline lights up in these incredible orange and pink hues. I spent way too much time on my balcony with coffee in the mornings, watching the fishing boats head out while the city was still quiet.
The restaurant situation is solid too – their breakfast spread has this mix of Georgian specialties and international options that doesn’t feel forced or touristy. I particularly loved their khachapuri (you have to try it if you haven’t), and they make a mean Turkish coffee that kept me going during my early morning walks along the boulevard. Speaking of walking, the hotel’s position means you can easily stroll to the Alphabet Tower or the Batumi Archaeological Museum without needing taxis or dealing with parking headaches. The neighborhood itself has this nice residential feel once you step away from the main drag – there are these little family-run cafes and shops that give you a real taste of local life. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night despite being reasonably central; the street doesn’t get the party crowd that some of the beachfront areas attract, so you can actually sleep with the windows open and hear the waves instead of music thumping until dawn. It’s that sweet spot where you feel connected to the city but not overwhelmed by it.

I liked the views from my room. From everywhere it was possible to see the sea, sunset, and, the Caucasus range on the right.
