I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Batumi River Source, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior of the ORBI complex on Sherif Khimshiashvili Street. The building looks pretty standard from the outside, you know, one of those modern developments that could be anywhere. But honestly? The moment you step inside, it’s a completely different story.

What really got me was how quiet it actually is once you’re in your room. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Batumi – just a few minutes’ walk from the Boulevard and all the casino action – but somehow the sound just doesn’t carry up. I stayed on the 12th floor and could barely hear the street traffic, which is saying something if you know how lively Batumi gets, especially during summer evenings. The four-star rating feels about right, though honestly the views from the higher floors punch way above that category. You get this amazing panorama of the Black Sea on one side and the city stretching toward the mountains on the other – it’s the kind of view that makes you linger by the window with your morning coffee.

The apartment itself (and that’s really what it is, not just a hotel room) has this lived-in quality that I actually appreciate. The kitchen is fully equipped – I mean really equipped, not just a mini-fridge and a kettle. I ended up cooking a few meals there because, well, the local markets are incredible and it felt almost wasteful not to use such a nice setup. The washing machine was a godsend too, especially since I was there for over a week. Little details like proper hangers in the closet and decent water pressure in the shower – you don’t realize how much these things matter until you’ve stayed in places that get them wrong. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout, which surprised me given how thick those concrete walls are.

Location-wise, you’re about a seven-minute walk to the main drag of the Boulevard, maybe ten if you’re taking your time. There’s a decent grocery store practically next door, and honestly, some of the best khachapuri I had in Georgia was from this tiny place just around the corner that I stumbled onto by accident. The taxi drivers all know the ORBI complex, so you won’t have any trouble getting around. Parking can be a bit tight if you’re driving – the underground garage fills up during peak season – but there’s usually street parking within a block or two.

What really sealed it for me was the staff’s approach. They’re not hovering, but when you need something, they actually know their stuff. The woman at reception gave me this hand-drawn map to a wine bar that ended up being one of my favorite discoveries in the city. That’s the kind of local knowledge you just can’t get from a chain hotel. With a 9.5 rating from other guests, I’m clearly not the only one who left impressed – though I will say, if you’re expecting daily housekeeping like a traditional hotel, you might want to clarify that upfront since it operates more like a serviced apartment.

  Everything was just so great and exceptional. And I mean literally EVERYTHING. The hosts were amazingly helpful and always kept in touch with you and always helped you whenever you needed something. The room itself was so clean and beautiful, with an astonishing view of the black sea. All the things you need from a stay is included, like cooking stuff and cleaning stuff and things for comfort and many more. They even put toilet water hose next to the toilet for those who need it like people from my country and middle east. The location was absolutely gorgeous! Just a 2 minutes walk until you reach the most beautiful and fun part of the beach of the Batumi. It has a nice balcony for chilling in the afternoon and watching the sunset. Last words, if you want to stay in Batumi, I highly recommend staying here. ( I attached a photo of the lobby and also the view of the room when it’s sunset)
