I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Batumi Continental apartments on Sherif Khimshiashvili Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard residential building. But you know what? Sometimes the best places hide in plain sight, and this three-star setup completely won me over during my stay in Batumi.

The thing that strikes you immediately is how quiet it is once you’re inside. I mean, Batumi can get pretty lively (especially during summer when the Georgian coast fills up with tourists), but this little street feels removed from all that chaos without being inconvenient. The apartments themselves are actually spacious – and I’m not just saying that because I’ve been crammed into too many European hotel boxes lately. These feel like real living spaces where you could actually unpack and settle in for more than just a night or two. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too, which honestly saved me a fortune since eating out every meal in Batumi adds up fast, even though the food scene here is incredible.

What really impressed me was how well-maintained everything felt. The building might not look flashy from the outside, but inside you’ve got reliable hot water (crucial after those long walks along the Boulevard), solid WiFi that actually works when you need to upload photos, and – this is key – proper blackout curtains that let you sleep past sunrise if you’ve had one too many glasses of Georgian wine the night before. The location is pretty smart too; you’re close enough to walk to the old town and the beach promenade, but far enough from the main hotel strip that you’re not dealing with crowds of tourists stumbling back at 3 AM. I could actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic, which felt like a minor miracle. The staff genuinely seem to care about the place – they’re not just going through the motions like at some of the bigger hotels I’ve stayed at. When my apartment‘s air conditioning started acting up on day two, someone was up to fix it within an hour. No drama, no excuses, just sorted. That kind of responsiveness is worth its weight in gold when you’re traveling, especially somewhere as warm and humid as Batumi gets in summer.
