Apartment Maisi Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Apartment Maisi on that quiet side street in Batumi, I wasn’t expecting much. The building looks pretty typical for this part of the city, you know, that Soviet-era architecture mixed with newer Georgian touches. But here’s the thing about this three-star place: it completely surprised me in the best way possible.

The location is actually brilliant once you figure out the neighborhood. Maisi Street is tucked away from the main tourist chaos, which means you’re not dealing with crowds of people dragging suitcases at all hours, but you’re still just a solid ten-minute walk to the Boulevard and the beach. I mean, Batumi can get pretty intense during summer with all the visitors, so having this quieter pocket to retreat to was honestly perfect. The apartment itself – and it really does feel more like staying in someone’s well-kept apartment than a hotel – has this lived-in comfort that I wasn’t expecting. The kitchen actually works (I made coffee every morning), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I’ve stayed, and the shower has proper hot water pressure, which trust me, isn’t a given in every Georgian accommodation.

What really sold me though was the attention to small details that you don’t usually get at this price point. Fresh towels that actually smell clean, not just detergent-y. A little welcome setup with local tea and some basic groceries so you don’t have to hunt for a market immediately. The woman who manages the place – I think her name was Nino – gave me actual useful tips about which marshrutkas to take and where to find the best khachapuri nearby (there’s this tiny place two blocks over that locals go to, completely worth the detour). The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you stay there because it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just genuinely well-run and thoughtful. Sure, the street can get a bit echoey early in the morning when people are heading to work, and the elevator is one of those old Soviet ones that makes you question your life choices, but honestly? Those are minor things when you’re paying what you’re paying and getting this level of comfort and local insight. If you want to actually experience Batumi like someone who lives there, rather than just another tourist checking boxes, this is exactly where you want to be.

  • Exceptional – Sam from Kuwait – July 16, 2025 (10/10)

It is a nice budget apartment(this was the lowest priced one during our search) with all the basic amenities around 15 – 20 minutes walking distance from the main centre. You can enjoy a walk in surrounding streets in the avenue. Restaurants, market, and ATM are available in walking distance. We were a family of 3 and could live very comfortably for 2 nights. The lower floor contains the kitchen, toilet and a small bedroom with 2 single beds. The kitchen has cooking facility with necessary utensils, kettlle and iron box available. The upper floor(stairs inside) is a big bedroom with a double bed. There is a balcony and big terrace for your convenience. This apartment has a small courtyard where you can rest. The apartment owner, Ms Tiya, is a very nice lady, and she lives in the same compound. We were allowed to park our vehicle also in the parking area. It was a really nice experience altogether, worth for the money.

What could be improved: A microwave would have made it more better.

A good place for a large family or a big group of friends. If you don't mind old-fashioned furniture and decor, you'll definitely enjoy your stay.

  • Exceptional – Mahmood from Armenia – June 7, 2025 (10/10)

    The family were kind.

  • Went very well! Good luck to the hosts and little kitten Bun! – Viktoriia from Finland – September 18, 2024 (9/10)

Very centrally located, big house with AC system, very nice yard with tables and chairs

  • All in all it was not a bad place. – Mertkan from Turkey – September 17, 2023 (8/10)

The place was nice, it had a small frontyard. The rooms were seperated and all included kitchen and bathroom. Although the owner spoke very little English, they were quite friendly.

What could be improved: The location was a little bit far from the center, we didnt notice it at the reservation. Beds could have been more comfortable.
