18 FLOOR Overview

When I first walked up to 18 FLOOR on Nijaradze Street, I’ll be honest – the name had me curious about whether I’d actually be staying on the 18th floor of some towering building. Turns out, it’s not quite that dramatic, but the three-star property does sit nicely along the New Boulevard area, which honestly is one of the better spots to land in Batumi if you want to be close to the action without being right in the thick of the casino chaos.

The thing about this place is that it gets the basics really right, you know? The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but I mean, when you’re paying three-star prices, you’re not expecting marble everything. What I actually loved was how quiet it stays at night, which is sort of surprising given that you’re walking distance from all the main Boulevard attractions. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions like you get at some of the bigger chain places. I had this whole confusion about getting to the cable car station (because let’s face it, Google Maps gets a bit wonky in Batumi sometimes), and the front desk guy actually drew me a little map showing the shortcuts through the side streets.

The location really is the sweet spot here – you’re maybe a five-minute walk to the beach, and all those wild architectural buildings that Batumi’s famous for are right there. The Alphabet Tower, that crazy spinning restaurant thing, the dancing fountains – it’s all within easy walking distance. Plus, if you’re planning to explore the old town area, you can actually walk there in about fifteen minutes instead of dealing with the somewhat unpredictable taxi situation. I stayed there in late summer and the Boulevard gets pretty packed with tourists, but being just slightly off the main drag meant I could escape back to the hotel when I needed a break from the crowds. The rating of 8.3 makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re trying to experience a city rather than just hang out in your hotel room all day.

  What could be improved: The room looks very old and was not cleaned well. There is mould in the bathroom. The materials are of such poor quality that they already look worn, despite the hotel and building being relatively new. The windows are single-glazed, so forget about sleeping at night; the noise from cars and barking dogs will keep you awake, even if you close the windows. 🙂

  A very nice and spacious apartment. Perfect for a small family or couples. Situated right at the beach (3 minutes walk). Next to a lot of nice cafes and restaurants. Also has a shop 2 minutes away.
  The property is very clean and nicely decorated.
  A balcony is connected between the apartments and shows an amazing view onto the sea.
  
  What could be improved: The opening hours of the reception are wrongly stated in the description, the reception closed 2 hours prior to the stated time. Therefore, we had difficulties to enter, however, the host smoothly solved the issue in around 10-15 minutes.
  Also, (based on the previously stated difficulty perhaps our experience was different than for people checking in around midday) the check in itself is a bit confusing, since the apartments are situated inside a common flats building, you need to know the code from the front door to even enter to get to the reception, and I am not sure how it’s provided to the guests. In our case, we had to wait until somebody entered the building, for us to be able to get in.

  What could be improved: Nobody was talking English. It was difficult to communicate. On the check out we didn't find anybody there and we had to wait for the people to come to pay up and leave. Difficult to find place to park. The hotel didn't offer any on site parking.
