Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Orbi Beach on Sherif Khimshiashvili Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a fairly modest three-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that completely catch you off guard, and this little gem absolutely did that for me.

The thing about staying in Batumi is that everyone talks about the big flashy hotels along the waterfront, but honestly, being just a few blocks back from all that chaos turned out to be perfect. You’re close enough to walk to the beach in maybe five minutes (I timed it), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant noise of the boulevard traffic and street performers until 2 AM. The staff here – and I mean this genuinely – seem to actually care about what they’re doing. My check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood like locals should, and when I needed recommendations for where to grab khachapuri that wasn’t touristy nonsense, they pointed me toward this tiny bakery two streets over that I never would’ve found otherwise.

What really impressed me though was how clean and thoughtfully maintained everything felt. I mean, we’re talking about a smaller property here, not some massive resort, but the attention to detail was obvious. The room had this fresh, lived-in comfort – good mattress, proper hot water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think when you’re dealing with Georgian plumbing), and windows that actually opened to let in that Black Sea breeze. The whole place has this quiet, residential feel that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like you’re just staying at a well-run guesthouse. I spent most evenings on my little balcony with a bottle of Georgian wine from the corner shop, watching the sunset paint the mountains behind the city – honestly one of those simple pleasures that makes travel worthwhile. Plus, parking was never an issue, which if you’ve driven in Batumi, you’ll understand is basically a small miracle.
