Old Batumi Hotel Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Old Batumi Hotel on Revaz Komakhidze Street, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But you know what? Sometimes the places that don’t try too hard with flashy names end up surprising you the most. This four-star spot sits right in the heart of old Batumi, and I mean truly in the thick of things – you’re maybe a three-minute walk from the main boulevard where all the evening action happens, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with street noise until 2 AM.

The thing that got me about this place was how they’ve managed to keep some authentic Georgian character without falling into that tourist trap territory. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling – not like someone just installed generic hotel furniture last week. My room was actually bigger than I expected (honestly, Georgian hotels can be hit or miss on space), and the bathroom was properly modern, which… well, if you’ve traveled around this region, you know that’s not always a given. The staff genuinely seemed to care about helping out, too – the front desk guy spent like ten minutes drawing me a map to find this specific khachapuri place his grandmother recommended, which ended up being incredible, by the way.

What I really appreciated was the breakfast situation – they do this mix of European standards and local stuff, so you can have your usual coffee and pastries, but also try some Georgian cheese that’ll ruin regular cheese for you forever. The location is honestly perfect for exploring the old town on foot; you’re close enough to wander down to the seaside promenade when you want that Black Sea breeze, but you can also duck into the maze of side streets where locals actually hang out. I stayed there during shoulder season in late spring, and the whole area had this relaxed vibe – not the summer crowds, but everything was open and the weather was perfect for walking around. The hotel’s got that 9.3 rating for good reason; it’s one of those places where all the little things just work right, and you end up feeling like you stumbled onto something the tour groups haven’t completely discovered yet.

Reviews of Old Batumi Hotel

  • Stop scrolling. This is it! – Eileen from United States – August 4, 2025 (10/10)

This room is perfectly thought out. I wish I could take it on the road with me. Finally a well-appointed room that makes sense. AND it is 4 stars deservedly so. Unlike many in Batumi who claim to be 4! Beware

  • Exceptional – Aimar from Estonia – May 29, 2025 (10/10)

Brakfast was good. Lot's of different food, could have been a bit more for vegans. A lot of local stuff. WiFi works, shower works, rooms have a balcony. Cozy and clean, friendly and helpful staff. Open 24/7, good location, not far from the beach. There are many different places to go to eat around hotel – Georgian, Turkish, Yemen, vegan etc. I had to leave before the breakfast, so I got coffee. Defeinitely my first option for Batumi in future. Staff speaks English and Russian more or less fluently.

What could be improved: The breakfast room has a standard hotel coffee machine. Nothing amazing for conoisseurs but ok.

  • Exceptional – Eisa from Saudi Arabia – May 27, 2025 (10/10)

Staff are outstanding Elizabeth and all girls in reception, Mozzaina and the rest of kitchen staff, the room cleaning lady everything is done perfectly and professionaly executed with a worm smile.

Location is in walking distance from all city attractions and surrounded by tons of restaurants, cafes and grocery shops.

Thank you all and sure Old Batumi Hotel is strongly recommended, and will be repeatedly selected.
