MELINI Boutique Hotel Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to MELINI Boutique Hotel on Marjanishvili Street, I almost missed it. It’s tucked into this charming row of buildings that feels more residential than touristy, which actually turned out to be one of its best features. You know how some hotels scream “look at me” from blocks away? This place does the opposite, and I mean that in the best possible way.
The moment you step inside, you realize this four-star property gets the boutique thing right – it’s got maybe 20 rooms, so the staff actually remembers your name by day two. The lobby has this interesting mix of modern Georgian design with these subtle Art Deco touches that somehow work perfectly together. I spent way too much time trying to figure out where they sourced those gorgeous light fixtures (turns out they’re custom-made by a local artisan, which explains a lot). The whole place feels like someone’s very stylish, very wealthy Georgian aunt decided to open a hotel, if that makes sense.
What really sold me on this place, though, was the location. Marjanishvili Street puts you right in the heart of old Batumi without the chaos of the main tourist strips. You can walk to the Boulevard and the beach in about eight minutes – I timed it because I’m weird like that – but you’re far enough away that you’re not dealing with the late-night party crowds. There’s this fantastic little bakery literally next door that opens at 6 AM, and honestly, waking up to the smell of fresh khachapuri drifting through your window is pretty hard to beat. The hotel staff will actually coordinate with them for breakfast deliveries if you ask nicely, which is the kind of local connection you just don’t get at the big chain places.
The rooms themselves are well thought out – mine had this incredible view of the old town’s rooftops, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a boutique property. I appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with the “local flavor” decorating – just enough Georgian touches to feel authentic without crossing into theme park territory. The bed was properly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the air conditioning actually worked, which isn’t always a given in this part of the world. One tiny complaint: the walls are a bit thin, so if you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Nothing terrible, just the occasional hallway conversation carrying over.
What impressed me most was how the staff seemed genuinely excited to share their city with guests. The front desk manager, Nino, drew me this detailed little map highlighting her favorite wine bars and gave me specific walking directions to avoid the tourist trap restaurants. She even called ahead to secure me a table at this incredible seafood place that doesn’t take reservations. That level of personal attention – where it feels like helpful locals rather than scripted hospitality – made all the difference in my stay. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentically Batumi without sacrificing comfort, MELINI really delivers on that promise.
To book hotel in Batumi during the famous Black Sea Jazz Festival, visitors should make reservations well in advance as this coastal city attracts beach lovers and cultural enthusiasts from around the world.
