You know what surprised me most about Holiday in Orbi? It’s tucked away on Sherif Khimshiashvili Street in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the cruise ship crowds haven’t figured out yet. I mean, you’re still close enough to hear the buzz from the main tourist strips, but there’s this quieter residential vibe that honestly made my whole stay more relaxing than I expected.

The building itself has that modern Georgian aesthetic – sort of sleek but not trying too hard to be fancy. This is definitely a solid three-star place that knows exactly what it is, and I actually appreciated that. The lobby’s compact but bright, and check-in was refreshingly quick (the staff spoke great English, which saved me from my embarrassing attempts at Georgian phrases). My room faced away from the street, so nights were surprisingly quiet – something I wasn’t counting on in Batumi, where the nightlife can get pretty intense, especially during summer months.

What really won me over was the location’s sweet spot factor. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the beach and all those flashy casinos along the boulevard, but you can also wander five minutes in the opposite direction and find yourself in these lovely neighborhood streets where locals are actually living their lives. There’s a little bakery around the corner that does these incredible khachapuri – I stumbled onto it by accident on my second morning and ended up going back every day. The hotel breakfast was decent enough, but honestly, once I found that bakery, I was sorted. Parking was never an issue either, which is worth mentioning because some of the bigger hotels closer to the waterfront can be a nightmare for that. The whole area feels walkable during the day, though I’d probably grab a taxi back at night just because the street lighting gets a bit patchy once you’re off the main roads. With a 9.2 rating, it’s clear other travelers have picked up on what makes this place work – it’s got that reliable, no-nonsense comfort without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re exploring a city as vibrant and slightly overwhelming as Batumi can be.
