I’ll be honest – George Dom isn’t going to blow you away with luxury, but there’s something genuinely charming about this three-star spot that keeps drawing me back to Batumi. It’s tucked away on Soxumi Street, which honestly took me a couple tries to find the first time (Georgian street signs can be tricky if you’re not familiar), but once you know where it is, you’ll appreciate being just off the main tourist drag.

The thing about George Dom is that it feels more like staying at a well-run guesthouse than a typical hotel – and I mean that in the best way possible. The rooms are clean and practical, nothing fancy, but they’ve got everything you actually need. What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night, especially considering you’re still close enough to walk to the Boulevard in about ten minutes. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re comfortable, which honestly can be hit or miss in this price range. I remember asking about local restaurants one evening, and instead of just pointing me toward the obvious tourist spots, they actually drew me a little map to this incredible khachapuri place that locals frequent – you know, the kind of recommendation that makes a trip memorable.

The neighborhood itself is pretty authentic Batumi, if that makes sense. You’ll hear Georgian conversations drifting from apartment balconies, see babushkas selling fresh churchkhela on the corner, and get a real feel for how the city actually lives beyond the casino lights and beach crowds. Parking can be a bit of an adventure – street parking is tight, but there’s usually something within a block or two if you’re patient. The building itself has that slightly worn Soviet-era charm that’s everywhere in this part of Georgia, but inside it’s been updated enough that you’re not dealing with ancient plumbing or sketchy electrical work. During summer months it does get busier since it’s decent value for money, but even then it never felt overwhelming or impersonal like some of the bigger places near the waterfront. What I really appreciate is that they don’t try to be something they’re not – it’s straightforward, honest accommodation that delivers exactly what it promises, with staff who actually seem happy to help rather than just going through the motions.

  Great place! The room has a wardrobe, its own shower room and toilet. On the ground floor there is a mini kitchen with everything you need! Thank you!

  What could be improved: Bathroom was very bad, it smelled horrible the entire stay because there isn’t any ventilation or fan inside, the toilet seat tank was broken and exposed, the toilet paper handle was broken, the shower holder was broken. Bathroom is horrible.
  Ans there was not any mirror in the room. And window is broken it doesn’t close.
  No fridge in the whole house also.
