Courtyard by Marriott Batumi Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Courtyard by Marriott Batumi, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another business hotel from the street. But man, was I wrong. This five-star property on Sherif Khimshiashvili Street actually surprised me in all the right ways, and I say that as someone who’s stayed in way too many Marriotts over the years.
The thing that got me right away was how they’ve managed to blend that reliable Marriott comfort with something that feels distinctly Georgian. You know what I mean? The lobby has these gorgeous local touches – I’m talking about the artwork and these beautiful stone accents that remind you you’re not in some generic hotel tower. The staff here genuinely knows Batumi, too. When I asked about getting to the botanical garden (which honestly, you absolutely have to visit), the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he sketched out this little walking route that took me through some side streets I never would’ve found otherwise. That kind of local insight is gold when you’re exploring a place like this.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a five-star Marriott, but better. I mean, the beds are ridiculously comfortable, and there’s this attention to detail that shows they’re not just phoning it in. My bathroom had heated floors – small thing, maybe, but when you’re padding around after a shower, it matters. The views depend on which side you’re on, but even the city-facing rooms give you glimpses of the Black Sea if you crane your neck just right. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re right in the heart of everything. Sherif Khimshiashvili isn’t exactly a sleepy side street, but somehow the soundproofing actually works. I’ve stayed in plenty of places where they promise peace and quiet but deliver traffic noise all night – not here.
Here’s the thing about the location that nobody really tells you: you’re maybe a seven-minute walk from the Boulevard, which is where everyone ends up anyway, but you’re also ridiculously close to some of the best restaurants that aren’t on every tourist’s radar. There’s this little khachapuri place two blocks over that locals line up for, and the hotel concierge steered me there when I mentioned I wanted something authentic. That’s the kind of recommendation you can’t get from a guidebook. Parking is actually handled well too – they’ve got a proper garage, which is more of a luxury in central Batumi than you might think. Check-in was smooth, no drama, though I’d suggest arriving after 2 PM because I saw a few people cooling their heels in the lobby earlier than that. All in all, it’s one of those places that just gets the basics right while adding enough character to make you remember why you picked it in the first place.
